We all love to keep up to date with celebrities. What they wear, who they are dating and what they are up to. We follow their trends and look up to them to give us insights into what we should wear and treatments we could have to have skin like them, a body like them and even teeth like them.
People bring photos to dental appointments, just like they take photos into a hair dressers, to explain what they like and how they want them to look.
Let's look at celebtrity teeth. The good, the bad and the ugly. We start with the beautiful Angelina Jolie.
What I love is how natural they look. Imperfectly perfect is how I like to decribe these. She has a wide smile with teeth filling the whole smile- this is a look that mpost want to achieve. She hasn't got in your face white teeth, but instead opts for a natural tooth shade. A rule of thumb is your teeth shouldn't be whiter then the whites of your eyes.
The star that is Tom Cruise. His midline is slightly off centre, which isn't a look most aspire to and a dentist perfroming cosmetic treatment for a smile design would work to make sure this is central. His teeth aren't particularly white and he seems to have had some restorative work done on his anteriuors, particularly noticeable on hos upper left lateral inciros (second from the front). However, I do feel this is a lot better then his initial dental situation when he started his film career.
I LOVE Jennifer Anistons teeth. Again, not too white but they appear just right. Slightly less hiwtthen the white of her eyes, which is aesthetically pleasing. Her canines are slightly more yellow then her anteriors, which is pretty common. She has a wide smile with teeth filling the whole smile which is a sought after look. Her teeth are naturally square and notice how they are not all in line- which seems to be the trend with cosmetic dentistry these days. I am not a fan of that. She doesn't have a gummy smile, which means she doesn't show too much upper gum line when she smiles.
Miley Cyrus on the other hand DOES have a gummy smile. She has also had some cosmetic work done, probably veneers. You can see her gums look a little puffe. Veneers create ledges around the gum line that become harder to keep clean. Also, there has been talk of her veneers encroaching the biological width, which can cause inflammation and recession.
Next we have Kanye West (credit to @johnnydangandco instagram). He has Grillz on his lower teeth which is effectively covering her teeth. This is not a look I like or condone due to the difficulty in keeping these clean and the damage this can cause to the other teeth. His natural teeth look so straight and white and it seems a shame to ruin them with grillz.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Ann Hathaway's smile. Big white straight teeth that fill the wide smile she has. Imperfectly perfect and lovely naturally white shade. Stunning.
Margot Robbie again has natural looking teeth. If you look super closley her upper left central incisor has a very slight chipped edge. I love these nuances that makes someone smile their own. She has a lovely shade of white, slightly whiter then the whites of her eyes but she can pull the off as they look natural and not fake teeth. Also, the younger you are the more you can get away with whiter teeth too.
A tip for whiter looking teeth is to follow Cameron Diaz's example here and use a red lippy. A blue red makes teeth look whiter, but an orange red can make teeth look more yellow. PLay around whit shades to see what works for you.
Nikki Minaj has a very fake look veneer going on here. They don't look bad per se, but they don't look like they are what she was naturally bledded with. They are very white and some photos actually look like she could easily have some mild inflammatio n of the margins, which are difficult to clean when you have crowns and veneers.
